Baghajatin Athletic Club was founded in the year 1963 with its sports wings of Football & Cricket and established as a famous organisation in Siliguri sub-division in the district of Darjeeling under West Bengal.

Sri Dipak Ghosh, IAS during his service at Siliguri had kindly adorned as Chief Patron of our Club and we got valuable guidance and assistance from him to establish our Club in the subdivision successfully.

Gradually our Club, within our means, showing sincere efforts with the help of the sport lovers of the sub-division opened different wings by conducting the events of Volley-ball, Athletics, Badminton, Table-Tennis successfully, besides the event of Football and Cricket . Our Club became the Champion in Football and Cricket in the Sub-divisional league and tournament in several year's. In the event of Athletic, we could able to retain Championship of this sub-division for a continuous period during ‘80s, ‘90s as well as major part of twentieth centuries. We are proud that our Club had also conducted an Open Invitation Badminton Tournament in the year 1972-73 where the eminent National Players like Sri Suresh Goel, Sri Ramen Ghosh, Iqbal Mahinder and during 1974-75 National & Inter-national player's namely Prakash Padukan, Sri Dinesh Khanna, Sri Larrie Diesa, Sri Kiran Kaushik, Iqbal Mahinder, Asif Parpia, Partha Ganguly, Smt.Tulsi Banerjee, Sri Laltu Guha, Smt. Anita Guha took part in the tournament.

Besides these, the Club also organised a Cricket Tournament in the name of promising cricket player of the sub-division i.e. “Prolay Memorial Open Invitation Knock-out Cricket Tournament” for the period from 1973 to 1983 continuously with a great success and most of the cricket icon of Indian National Cricket Team as well icon cricketer from West Bengal, Bihar were also took part in the tournament. Our Club had also conducted the inter-club Table-Tennis Tournament in so many occasions and as per schedule tournament of the Bengal Table-Tennis Association & District Table- Tennis Association gloriously. We produced many Table-Tennis players through our coaching camp who, in turn, became prosperous players in their team and individual event in District, State as well as in National levels. Now a days, due to damage of our auditorium, we are not in a position to conduct the inter-club tournament which we think would be materialized very soon.

In regard to cultural events, the Club had organised “Yatra Utsav” (i.e. Pala Gan), “Manna De Musical Night”, “Jesu Das Musical Night” with many other eminent singers of State & National level. We believe that the best cultural programme so organised by our Club was the great “Rabi Sankar Night”. We also organized various camps of Medical check-up, eye check-up as well as distributions of cloathes to the poor and old persons in Siliguri. Baghajatin Athletic Club is conducting three coaching camps in the discipline of Cricket, Athletic & Table-Tennis since long, where more than 600 boys & girls are enrolled. We are taking keen interest to boost up their morals, because we believe that “Sport is the basic fundamental of character building" and through these camps we extend opportunity before the players to develop themselves at their discipline in this sub-division .

Beside the above stated events, our Club also organising the 15 k.m. Road Race since 1985. Presently the race has been renamed as This Road Race had“All India Open Invitation Half Marathan” already been achieved its ‘Silver Jubilee’ in the year 2009. Since inception of this 15 K.M. Road Race, so many sports stalwarts all over the country had kindly paid their kind visit as Guest-in-Chief and flagged off the Race. Presently our Club is running with a decorated Club Room, Furnished Of.ce Room including an Auditorium. The auditorium is being utilised for running the coaching camp of Table-Tennis and few cultural programme, meetings by the several organisation of this sub-division. The Club is being established in its own land at C.V.Raman Sarani, College Para, Siliguri-734001 in the district of Darjeeling, West Bengal.

Baghajatin Athletic Club became the Champion in FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP in the year 2013 and CRICKET LEAGUE CHAMPION in the year 2014 of Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parisad. Having been con.rmed the date of birth of Saheed Jyotindra Nath Mukherjee (Baghajatin), we have celebrated the Birthday of the legend freedom .ghter on 8th. December and Passes away date on 12th. September every year.

We extend our gratitude to the persons without whom, we may not be established as one of the best Organization in the Sub-Division unless they extended their co-operation and patronage. We have also got the privilege to honour the dignitaries of the Sub-Division as well as State & National level being conferred with Honorary Life Membership of our Club and among those are :- "Sri Saurav Ganguly, , S.M.H.Kirmani, Sri Irphan Pathan, Sri Gautam Deb, Hon’ble Minister, Govt. of W.Bengal, Sri Sunil Tirkey, Hon’ble M.L.A., Sri Debaprasad Roy, Ex-M.L.A , Dr. Rudranath Bhattacharjee, Ex-M.L.A. , Sri Sankar Malakar, Hon’ble M.L.A. , Smt. Ashoke Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Mayor, Siliguri Municipal Corporation, and so on besides the eminent persons of this Sub-Division."
