Few members of our club, in the year 1986, contemplated to convene a Road Race to encourage and boost up the spirit among the youths and finally they placed the proposal before the then General Secretary of the Club. He carefully considered the same and extended his kind consent to go ahead. They were indefatigable and relentless with the aim and finally made the tough task possible, with minimum scopes and avenues, on the auspicious day of "Mahalaya" in the year 1986. This was the beginning of the Road Race. The initial nomenclature of the event was ROAD RACE for two consecutive years.

Subsequently, to make the event glorious, our the then veteran members decided to organise CROSS COUNTRY RACE in place of ROAD RACE and contin- ued till 1990 this Cross Country Race was abandoned keeping in view of the safety of the participants. We then started "ALL INDIA OPEN INVITATION HALF MARATHON".

The Inaugural Road Race in the year 1986 and 1987 was fagged off by the then Vice Chancellor of North Bengal University and thereafter eminent personalities of the society were present as Guest In Chief and flagged off the Road Race. Moreover, many National Level Sports legends were also present from time to time.

The list of those personalities may be had from this brochure. It is a great pleasure for all of us that the athletes across the country are participating each year and the number of the participants exceeded 500 and hoping to be increased in future years.

We however, to attract participants from each corner of our country, trying hard to eradicate the flaws from our part to enable us to interact with them well in advance. Since 2007 we also conducting a Fraternity Run along with the above Road Race on the same day immediately after the main event started. We express our gratitude to the eminent personalities who adorned the chair of Chief Patron, Patrons, Guest in Chief, as well as the media, (both Print & Electronic), Sponsors' for extending their heartfelt cooperation to make the events a grand success in every year.

We expect all sorts of co-operation from all concerned and kind from the sports lovers of this Sub-Division as well from state levels in future also, though we are now getting financial assistance from Govt. of West Bengal.
